Thought Monster

Originally from Vancouver, Canada, Katherine Alpen is a Leo Nominated actor/writer based in London.

After receiving a diploma in musical theatre (2014), Alpen worked primarily in musical theatre, commercials and indie film in Vancouver before moving to the UK in 2020 to complete her MA Acting in Birmingham.​ Thought Monster is her first solo work and was conceived as her MA Thesis during her time at The Birmingham Conservatoire. Also an accomplished improvisor, she was a member of the Shakespeare After Dark improv troupe in Vancouver for 4 years.

Select theatrical credits include Driving me Crazy (Serendipity Theatre Collective), James and the Giant Peach (Blue Orange Theatre), Elegies for Angles, Punks and Raging Queens (Kingshead Theatre), Little Miss Glitz (Too Fly Productions) and Rocky Horror (Geekenders). Select film credits include Living with Bigfoot (Mills Pictures), Exuvia (Bradeway Films - nominated for best lead actress in a feature 2022), and Camp Death 2: The Final Summer (Frame Films). Writing credits include Thought Monster and the short film Send it to the Roeddes, which she wrote, produced and starred in.

She will next be spending Christmas in York as a dancer in The Polar Express experience.

Originally from Vancouver, Canada, Jacob is a Queer theatre artist, director, and choreographer, splitting their time between Canada and the UK. Most recently, they created and directed With Love, Juliet, a one-person play about a drag queen and Shakespeare, and was the Assistant Director on the UK Tour of The City and The Town. Directing Credits include: I Have Eggs (Theatre503), Bright Star (Garner Theatre Productions), Marry Me A Little, Meet Me Tonight (Square One Entertainment), and The Deceiver (Gray Productions). Assistant Director Credits include: Wonderful Town (Associate Director; Randolph College), Fiddler on the Roof (Persephone Theatre), Dance Nation, The Ballad of Maria Marten (Rose Bruford College), The Louder We Get (Directing Mentee; Theatre Calgary). His film credits include a five-part docuseries, Linked by INK; a Queer short film, Surprise; and the dance film, Reflect IN.

Carrie is a Producer and Production Manager, based in London. Alongside freelance work, she is the resident Production Manager for Rose Bruford Southwest (ALRA) as well as the Production Assistant for David Adkin Limited. She completed the MA Collaborative Theatre Production and Design course at Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Distinction in 2022. Carrie is particularly interested in theatre with a socio-political message; particularly shows with historical, feminist or LGBTQ+ themes, as well as performances with accessibility and education at its core.

With a background in a broad range of artistic explorations, including fine art, film, music, movement and sports, Tamara facilitates an energetic, explorative environment for the performer to create with their body. To use physical exploration to build on the world of the creative piece, whilst leaving space for experimentation, the telling of story through physical representation as well as bringing together different mediums of art.

She brings her embodied knowledge of artistic exploration, anatomy, and creativity to different environments of work. From close collaboration with directors, performers, actors and artists, she uses movement to build on the expressivity that the body holds and portrays.

Cassidy (She/Her) is excited to be the Voice coach for THOUGHT MONSTER. She recently received her Linklater Voice Designstion and MFA from Rose Bruford. Cassidy's acting credits include Julius Caesar, This is Our Youth, Mary Poppins, The Great Gatsby, Measure for Measure, and Eurydice. She also enjoys devising, hiking, and meeting dogs in the park. She thank's to this incredible team for their warmth and mindfulness. 

James is a theatre maker, director, composer and sound designer from Melbourne. He works across diverse forms and media, from performance art, to ambient music, to experimental theatre and sound installation.

Recent credits include The Apocalypse Bear Trilogy (Jack Studio Theatre; 2023), The Undercard (Jago Dalston; 2023), The Scandinavian Fiction Podcast (Dansk Kulterinstitut, 2023).

A playwright for ten years, with a long history in performing arts as a musician, actor, organiser, poet, pianist, theatre
reviewer, artist manger, and a day job as lawyer. Recently took on a role as creative producer of the Springboard
Festival of the Arts for the Criterion Theatre, Coventry and plans to continue to produce occasionally.
